We test for manufacturers if sunglasses conform to the optical properties of international standards. We do not test whether they meet any other parts of the specified standard.

Additional services
We can also test if it is reasonable to label Category 0 / Cosmetic, light sunglasses as “solar blue light reducing”. This is not defined in either international standard and therefore is an arbitrary statement based on the ratio of solar blue light transmittance to visible transmittance being less than 80%.

These are all additive e.g. if a style is tested against both EN ISO 12312-1:2022 and ANSI Z80.3-2018 (including impact resistance) and return the report within 48 hours of receiving the styles then the cost would be £165 + £35 + 50 = £250.

Requirements
We require a minimum of four sunglasses of each style for testing sent to our testing address.
